Oh, how we authors love our coffee. How would we write without it? I thought it would be fun to have authors share some of their favorite coffee mugs.

Livia Grant, author of Wanting It All

“I worked the night shift when my son was a baby (so he didn’t need babysitters as much) and it turned into an obsession of sorts. Now many moons later, I still can’t seem to get through the day without my drug of choice – caffeine.”

Tierney James, author of Dance of the Devil’s Trill

“My favorite coffee quote is, ‘You can hand me my coffee or spend the rest of the day limping.’ I start first thing in the morning with Gano Coffee made from a mushroom extract. I carry the already measured packets with me when I travel because I’m on the road so much. I usually have 3-4 cups a day in my office while I’m writing.”

C.A. Szarek, Author of  Superior Collision

“Coffee. The blood of life! Seriously, I need to drink it every day, in my chunky dragon mug. It just makes it more fun! I drink it in the evenings, which is my morning since I work over night.”

Veronica Scott, author of Hostage to the Stars

“I actually drink tea, with lots of cream and sugar. It’s my favorite way to relax any time, but I especially love a cup with breakfast.” (The spoon has been in her family almost 250 years).

S. J. Maylee, Author of Desire Protected

“I drink coffee every day, at least two mugs full. On especially productive writing days, I’ve been known to drink four or five. My preference used to be to drink it black. Now, I prefer a little creamer and a little sugar. I bought this lovely mug from a pottery shop when I lived in Chicago after college. It reminds me of the chances I’ve taken in life and to dream big.”

Lisa Medley, Author of Shifted in Seattle

“I drink my coffee hot and black. No weird flavorings.”

Adaline Raine, Author of Her Leading Man

“Coffee wakes me up in the morning and I over indulge when I fix my cup at home. Whipped cream, sprinkles, the whole nine yards. I have cut down to 6-8 cups, I used to drink a lot more. To me, coffee is a comfort item. In my house,we poured it all hours of the day and night to celebrate happy times or to get through sad times.”

Allie Ritch, author of Drinking Partners

“My favorite mug isn’t fancy, but it’s big, and it gets the job done. I like my coffee with enough milk and sugar it could be ice cream. Then again, some days I just go for the coffee ice cream.”

Cara Bristol, author of Trapped with the Cyborg

“Coffee wakes me up–and I don’t mean the caffeine. I set the coffee pot timer the night before. When the coffee pot beeps–or I smell coffee–it’s time to get up. I’ve had this mug for 20 years. My old critique group gave it to me.”
